Classic Meatballs & Tomato Sauce
Ingredients (4 servings)
For meatballs:
500 g ground beef (or beef + pork)
1 small onion, grated
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 egg
50 g breadcrumbs
2 tbsp milk
Salt, pepper, dried oregano or Italian seasoning
For sauce:
1 onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
400-500 g canned crushed tomatoes
1 tsp sugar (optional)
Salt, pepper
Fresh basil or parsley
Pasta or rice to serve
Instructions
Preheat oven to 200 °C (390 °F).
Mix all meatball ingredients; form balls ~2–3 cm. Bake or pan-fry until browned and cooked.
In sauce pan, sauté onion + garlic; add crushed tomatoes, salt, pepper, sugar; simmer ~10-15 min.
Add meatballs to sauce; simmer few more minutes to absorb flavor.
Serve with pasta or rice; garnish with herbs.
