Classic Meatballs & Tomato Sauce

Ingredients (4 servings)

  • For meatballs:

    • 500 g ground beef (or beef + pork)

    • 1 small onion, grated

    • 2 garlic cloves, minced

    • 1 egg

    • 50 g breadcrumbs

    • 2 tbsp milk

    • Salt, pepper, dried oregano or Italian seasoning

  • For sauce:

    • 1 onion, chopped

    • 2 garlic cloves, minced

    • 400-500 g canned crushed tomatoes

    • 1 tsp sugar (optional)

    • Salt, pepper

    • Fresh basil or parsley

  • Pasta or rice to serve

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 200 °C (390 °F).

  2. Mix all meatball ingredients; form balls ~2–3 cm. Bake or pan-fry until browned and cooked.

  3. In sauce pan, sauté onion + garlic; add crushed tomatoes, salt, pepper, sugar; simmer ~10-15 min.

  4. Add meatballs to sauce; simmer few more minutes to absorb flavor.

  5. Serve with pasta or rice; garnish with herbs.
